Driven by a shared love of coffee and community, Magen and Zack set out to create something more than just an espresso cart - they wanted to build a mobile experience that felt thoughtful, inviting, and full of heart. Drawing on Zack’s 20 years in hospitality and Magen’s expertise in creating meaningful experiences, they combined their strengths to craft a cart that brings high-quality coffee and a warm, welcoming presence to events and venues across San Francisco.

Whether it’s popping up at a local market, setting the tone at a private party, or adding a cozy touch to a community gathering, the cart is all about creating memorable moments over great coffee. Every detail - from the menu to the design - reflects their shared commitment to creativity, connection, and genuine hospitality.

Why “Bar Belafonte”?

We named Bar Belafonte with a few inspirations in mind. First, it is a nod to the ship in The Life Aquatic, a movie about curiosity, adventure, and the joy of discovery. It also honors Harry Belafonte, the legendary Jamaican-American musician and activist, whose creativity and commitment to justice continue to inspire. For us, the name captures both a sense of exploration and a connection to Zack’s Jamaican heritage - a reminder that great experiences are rooted in culture, curiosity, and community.
